| Yes folks, this *is* a pirate cart. This is truly one of the finest pirate carts, for
any system, I have ever seen. The cart has a few flaws, such as the poorly printed
"N" on the cart next to in the oval area above the label, and the black print to
the left of "Ban Dai" is a little blurry, and, the biggest giveaway for those in
the know, the real Japanese Tamagotchi carts come in white and pink (pink bundled with a
pink Pocket GB), not in grey (click here to see the real whiteJapanese Tamagotchi cart).
But I'll tell you folks, it sure could have fooled me! Aside from the obvious cartridge
color difference, there are other clues: Some instruction books are "missing
pages". Others have the page layout messed up, all have shoddy/blurry/faint printing
that would make you swear it was printed on a color photocopier. Some boxes are printed
improperly, some not. The proper box has the white flap on *top*, while one version of the
pirate cartridge has the white flap on the bottom. Of course, if you open the cart up,
you'll see even more differences (see PCB scans above), it does not use the standard style
circuit board used in licensed GB carts. Especially of note is the fact it uses a socketed
EPROM instead of a ROM chip! GB hardware hackers could probably have fun with that :)
Finally, what I think makes this even more unique, is the fact that this has a battery
backup. Info and pic from Robert Worne's Classic
