Super NES Laser Disc Demo Unit

This appeared on eBay, with only a vague description of what it was. It is a laserdisc, as you can see, which is much like those CD-Rs (note the appearance of the surface). The only time I ever saw a recordable LD before was in an old late 80s Playboy magazine in the lifestyle section; according to the snippet, a recorder cost $30,000, and what is even more shocking, a recordable LD was $1,000 for 1 hour CAV format (write only, not read/write like some CDs). I don't know what they cost in 1993, though, when this was made, but suffice it to say, it must still have been pretty expensive, so whatever is on here is probably quite important.

Updated: Marten Nielsen tells me that this LD was for use with a store demo unit, which was driven by the program on the cartridge below. My question is, did the demo units play games recorded on the laser disc, or were just "movies" of the games on the laser disc? I would bet on the latter myself, but I can't be sure. Also, does anyone have a pic of this unit? I'd love to see what it looked like.
