Naki GameSaver

Brad Van Zee, bpvanzee@ls.wustl.edu, sent me this info on the Naki GameSaver:

Manufacturer:  Naki
MSRP:  $49.95 US
Country: US
Licensed:  Probably not
Year: Unknown
Number of games supported: All

Naki released two products called the Game Saver and Game Saver+. These devices allowed saving of the CPU state, so you could save a game at any point and return to it. These devices are something like a Game Genie in that they fit between the game and the deck, except the cart plugs into the back side of the GameSaver, instead of directly on top. It receives its power from a passthrough of the SNES power cable. The "+" model allows you to insert 4 AA batteries for a whopping 3-5 hour save. For certain problem games you must insert between 1-4 6 digit codes at the startup screen. The game saver also has built in slow down functions. This product, while a great concept, doesn't work for shit. If it works at all, it usually screws up the graphics and music. It retailed at $49.95 when it first came out, but you can find them now (as I did mine) for next to nothing on clearance tables.

According to Naki's press release, they claimed the GameSaver could save a game for up to 30 hours on 4 AA batteries. Somehow, I believe Brad. :)
