Here we have a collection of the various Super NES/FC universal cartridge adaptors, which allow you to play cartidges intended for one market on a SNES/FC console in another market. There are three markets: US SNES, Super Famicom (Japanese), and PAL SNES (everywhere else in the world). You can read more about playing games intended for one market on a console in another, and all the issues involved, in the Super NES/FC FAQ.

US SNES <-> SFC

Another universal SNES-SFC adaptor, which allows you to play SFC carts on your SNES, and vice versa. I don't know why it is called "Caesar", what does "Caesar" have to do with video games? Oh, well, whatever :)

The guy selling this on eBay was unclear about this adaptor. It is either a US SNES<->SFC adaptor, or both a US SNES->PAL SNES and SFC->PAL SNES. Anyone know for sure?ut it. Anybody know more about this?

US? SNES <-> SFC

Another SNES to SFC (and vice versa) adaptor. No relation to the Game Adaptor above. Don't know anything else about it though, except it did appear, I think, in an issue of EGM a long time ago. I do not believe this works with PAL SNES and units and games.

This is US SNES and Super Famicom to PAL SNES adaptor, and one of the most popular adaptors in Europe. This one, unlike many adaptors, has the extra 2 sets of pins (to the left and right of the main circuit connector when you look at the bottom of a cart). This allowes the Super FX chip games to work, and, in theory, should allow a US/Japanese Super Game Boy to work as well. Be advised, however, Marten Nielsen, who owns one of these, said it may have caused the sound chip in his SNES to be fried when he used it with a US version of NBA Jam on his Euro SNES.

This is interesting for several reasons. One, check out the box. This is obviously *not* a licensed product, but the design of the box is nearly identical to the design used on boxes of many licensed accessories, such as Nintendo's replacement controllers, the Super Game Boy, and other accessories. Of course, if you look carefully, there are little differences and it looks cruder than the 'real thing'. If you have more info about this, please pass it on.

Competition Pro

This is another adaptor I found on eBay. The guy selling this said you could use it to play Euro and SFC games on your US SNES. One point of interest is that this is made by Competition Pro (Happ?), who also made many unlicensed US SNES controllers as well as other nifty US SNES accessories.

This allows US and Japanese carts to be played on a European console, without needing to attach a European cart to get around the lockout chip. Hahahaha! Gotta love that ridiculous pink bunny logo :)

I saw this on eBay one day, the guy selling it didn't say exactly what system to what system it is desgned to work with. Also, I don't know who makes this or where it is from, there is Korean writing on the cart. This was translated by two people at an institute as "Young Com Plaza", as to whether this is the company that made it, the name of the adaptor, or both, is unknown at this time. Also, this is virtually identical in appearane to the Caesar Plus adaptor above. Anyone have more info on this?
